    What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of over a hundred cannabinoids found in plants of the Cannabis Sativa family. The World Health Organization describes it as "generally well tolerated with a good safety profile".

    CBD facts

    How does CBD work?

CBD works by blocking enzymes that are responsible for breaking down the molecule anandamide. Anandamide is a human cannabinoid that naturally occurs in your body. It acts as a chemical signal to help your body systems maintain a healthy balance. When CBD is present, your anandamide levels build up and your body can quickly respond to any problems it faces.

    What is hemp tea?

CBD tea is a caffeine-free infusion of crushed hemp flowers, seeds and leaves. When steeped in hot water, raw cannabinoids are released into the brew.

Because the hemp is not exposed to heat for long enough or at a high enough temperature to convert CBDa into its active form, CBD. So, when drinking hemp tea, it is important to be aware that you will not be ingesting cannabidiol in the same way you would if you were using CBD oils.

CBDa is useful in its own right and interacts with your endocannabinoid system in a similar way to CBD. The brew will also contain trace amounts of other cannabinoids as well as a rich array of terpenes and flavonoids.

Advantages and disadvantages of CBD tea

    Advantages

    Disadvantages

    · Rich in CBDa

    · A gentle and tasty way to consume cannabinoids.

    · Hemp tea is both refreshing and hydrating.

    · Caffeine-free

    · Packed with plant oils and nutrients

    · Suitable for vegans and vegetarians

    · The savoury flavour isn’t to everyone’s taste.

    · For best results, CBD tea should be consumed alongside food. Fat aids your body in absorbing the cannabinoids.

    · Requires a few minutes to steep before being drunk.

How do I brew CBD tea?

    CBD Hemp tea brew

Brewing hemp tea is straightforward, here’s how we do it:

    1. Boil the kettle and fill a mug with hot water.
    2. Allow it to sit for one minute.
    3. Add the hemp tea bag or infuser filled with leaves and allow to steep.
    4. Brew for 5 minutes if you prefer a milder flavour. For a stronger brew, steep for up to 10 minutes.
    5. Remove the bag or infuser and add honey or lemon juice for extra flavour and goodness.

We recommend drinking hemp tea alongside food containing some fat for best results. This will aid the absorption of the cannabinoids in your tea.

How often should I drink CBD tea?

CBD tea can be drunk up to five times daily.

What are the health benefits of CBD?

You may have seen claims that CBD can improve sleep quality or reduce anxiety and pain. At for the Ageless, you won't find unproven statements. We sell hemp tea to be used as a food supplement only. It is not a medicine and isn't intended to offer any specific health benefits.

    Are there any side effects?

Many people regularly consume CBD without any problems, but some experience side effects. Those that have been noted in scientific studies include dry mouth, gastrointestinal problems, and changes in appetite and weight.

I’m taking medication. Can I still use CBD?

CBD can interact with some commonly prescribed drugs. This could change how medication behaves in your body and might produce unexpected results. Before taking CBD, check with your pharmacist or doctor to ensure it is safe to do so.

    Does CBD tea contain allergens?

In rare cases, cannabis products like CBD can cause allergic reactions, but it's not considered an allergen. Most hemp teas won’t be made with allergens like peanuts, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, eggs and milk.

If you have any allergies, the only risk is cross-contamination during production. If you have any concerns, reach out to us using the chat function before making a purchase.

    General precautions

The UK Food Standards Agency recommends that:

    • CBD should not be used by pregnant and breastfeeding women.
    • CBD should not be taken if you're already using any medication.
    • Healthy adults do not take more than 70mg each day.
