CBD paste is a useful alternative to oil and can be just as versatile. It’s usually made from hemp extract mixed with simple carrier substances such as coconut oil and beeswax. Most are preloaded into a syringe to make it easy for you to measure out a precise amount.
Often, CBD pastes contain a whole plant extract that is packed with naturally beneficial plant compounds including terpenes, flavonoids and fatty acids. Manufacturers add natural oils and waxes to adjust the concentration and produce the correct consistency.
CBD paste and hemp paste are made from the flowers of low-THC hemp plants; they are high in CBD, contain only traces of THC, and won’t get you high. Cannabis paste is similar but comes from high-THC cannabis plants and will produce an intoxicating high.
CBD paste can be used in several different ways. Its smooth texture means that it can be taken as it is or mixed with other products.
You can place a small amount of the paste under your tongue. This area of your mouth is rich in blood vessels and the membrane that separates them is very thin. Your saliva helps prepare the CBD to cross from the paste into your bloodstream.
From there, it travels around your body and can take effect in around 15 - 25 minutes. As with most methods of consuming CBD, some is lost or broken down before it can be utilised. When taken this way about 35% of each measure is likely to reach your bloodstream, which makes it one of the most efficient ways to take a CBD paste.
You can put the paste on your tongue and swallow it or mix it into food. It's a highly fatty substance so it won't combine easily with water, but it can be included in your favourite recipes or even blended into butter and spread on toast.
This is a great way to use your paste if you want to mask the flavour, but when CBD is ingested, only 4% - 20% is likely to make it through your digestive system to be used in your body.
If you want to make your own CBD capsules, paste is a great product to use. You can buy empty capsule shells ready to be filled. Add a small amount to each shell and close them ready for use.
It's much easier to add a measure of paste to capsules than oil or powder. This method is most often used by people who don't like the flavour of CBD or if they want a way to discreetly take it at work or on the go.
A small amount of paste can be inserted rectally. This area is rich in blood vessels that are close to the surface. In some cases, as much as 50% will reach your blood for use in your body.
The best way to take CBD paste is to place it under your tongue and let it absorb into your blood vessels. This method is highly efficient and quick to take effect. To do this you must dispense a small amount onto your finger, smear it under your tongue then leave it for at least 60 seconds.
For best results, follow these steps:
If you’re looking for a stronger CBD product or don’t enjoy taking oils, now might be the time to try a CBD paste. Pastes are just as versatile as oils but come in higher concentrations and have a thicker texture.
CBD paste can be taken at any time so it’s best to choose one that matches your existing daily routine. However, at for the Ageless, we recommend taking CBD alongside your meals because all cannabinoids are fat-soluble. Even if you take the paste under your tongue, a fatty meal will improve the effectiveness of any excess that you swallow.
A good way to decide when works best for you is to try a few different times to see which has the impact you’re hoping for.
CBD affects everyone slightly differently depending on several factors, including body mass, internal chemistry and existing health conditions. Consequently, how often you take it depends on how it works for you and what results you’re hoping for.
Start by using a small amount of paste twice a day, once in the morning and once in the early evening. Then after a week, you can choose if you want to increase the amount or how often you take it.
CBD is biphasic and can produce different effects with different serving sizes so it’s important to keep making adjustments until you find the right routine for you.
As you increase the amount of CBD you take per day you must bear in mind that the Food Standards Agency recommends that “healthy adults do not take more than 70mg a day”.
CBD oil and CBD paste both contain a mixture of hemp extract and carrier substances. Which one is best depends on your needs and what results you’re hoping to achieve. Before making your choice, look at the pros and cons of each to find the right product for you:

The best CBD products are those that match your needs and effectively deliver a potent measure of CBD. The versatility of paste means that it has multiple uses and can be applied in different ways.
If you're unsure of where to start with your paste, begin by placing the recommended amount under your tongue. Once you know if that works for you, you can decide what to try next.
