To provide our customers with the best information possible, we spoke with Phil Culbertson, Co-founder, and Managing Director of Love CBD to get the full lowdown on their products, to find out more about the company ethos and see what sets them apart from the rest of the UK CBD industry. Here’s what they had to say.
The Love CBD brand was created in 2014 because of our (myself and my brother Dan Culbertson) interest in health and well-being products and a desire to change the false and negative perceptions of the cannabis plant.
When we founded Love CBD in 2014, Dan had been a website developer for the best part of a decade. He also had a keen interest in health food and wellness and had run affiliate sites promoting relevant products. Leading up to the foray into cannabinoids, Dan ordered and tried several CBD products which had been underwhelming as the extracts in the products were derived from stalks and stems of the plant. Undeterred and after some research, he ordered and tried a CBD oil that had been extracted from the whole plant. This was a profound experience, and we immediately realised the potential and number of people that could benefit from taking CBD.
Dan’s first thought was to contact the company where he had bought the oil and see if he could be involved because as highly as he thought of their product, their website wasn’t as good. Dan met with the company owner, who was not overly pleased with his critique of their website as he had designed it and it is fair to say that the meeting did not go as intended.
Despite the meeting not going to plan, there were some useful insights and takeaways, and it is very possible that if the meeting had been a success, then Love CBD may never have been founded.
It was apparent to Dan that he could do better than the company he had met with and after a discussion with me, Love CBD was born.

All Love CBD products are manufactured in-house with care and attention to detail and contain our unique formulations.
At Love CBD we use US-sourced hand-harvested hemp that is grown indoors to organic standards. The hemp is grown without the use of chemicals but is not organically certified. Our extract undergoes full panel analysis which would detect any chemicals present.
The extracts that form the basis of our finished products use a food-grade solvent extraction process and undergo residual solvent testing to ensure that there are none in our finished products. We used to use CO2 extraction, but in order to remove THC to UK legal requirements were forced to change the extraction process.
All our products use broad-spectrum extracts. The reason for this decision is that it ensures that our products contain most of the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids and beneficial health properties found within full-spectrum products, but that we are also UK legally compliant.
A genuine full-spectrum CBD product will contain illegal levels of THC and as a leading brand in the UK market, it is simply not an option for us.
We take great care in manufacturing the Love CBD product range in-house. We manufacture incorporating Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP processes to ensure product consistency and quality standards but we are not GMP certified.
All our finished products are batch tested for cannabinoids to ensure quality and accuracy and are in ongoing stability studies. The extracts we use undergo full panel analysis covering pesticides, microbiological contaminants, heavy metals, residual solvents, terpenes and cannabinoids.
Love CBD is a founder member of the Cannabis Trades Association.
Love CBD is part of a novel food application which is progressing, and all of our products are included on the FSA’s list of novel food-approved CBD products. We have recently had the required toxicity study on the extract we use successfully concluded and as a result, expect to be validated soon.

The standard advice for a new customer would be as follows: Always start your CBD journey with a low-strength product and a small dose. Over time, gradually increase the dosage till you find a level that works for you. Our Dutch range is where most people would be advised to begin. However, as everyone is different, it is always beneficial to speak with someone who can help you choose the most appropriate product.
Love CBD offers a range of oils, all broad-spectrum (containing the full range of cannabinoids minus the THC). We have chosen to stock the entourage oil sprays. These are the most popular product on offer at Love CBD and have been available since 2015.
The entourage oils only contain 3 ingredients, broad-spectrum CBD extract, terpenes, and an olive oil carrier, all in a 20ml bottle. There are no artificial flavourings or ingredients, so the spray does have a natural earthy taste that isn’t appealing to everyone.

Like all other Love CBD products, the capsules are made using broad-spectrum CBD extract. They are available in 3 strengths, standard, double strength, and triple strength.
Like the oils, Love CBD capsules only use simple, natural ingredients. Each HPMC vegetable capsule contains coconut oil, terpenes, cannabis extract, and Arabic gum which is used to prevent any leakage. These capsules are suitable for vegans and contain no GMOs or lactose.

A multipurpose balm that is rich in CBD and other beneficial ingredients, Love CBD balm is one of our most popular products and receives excellent customer feedback for its 100% natural ingredients, durability and strength.
It has a simple ingredients list, containing 10 natural products including coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, and beeswax alongside CBD, all grown without the use of pesticides and herbicides.
Love CBD balm is suitable for use on your face and body, simply apply liberally to your chosen area.

If vaping is your chosen method of consumption, Love CBD also offer a small range of CBD e-liquids. These are produced using a combination of CBD (500mg) and CBG (100mg) isolate in a PG/VG carrier oil.
Sticking with the principle of simplicity is best, the only additional ingredients are a terpene blend to adjust the effects and flavour for the two versions on offer. The Indica e-liquid uses a blend of terpenes to imitate the famous Banana Kush cannabis strain. There is also a Sativa blend which imitates the terpene profile of the Pineapple Express cannabis strain.
