    What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of over a hundred cannabinoids found in plants of the Cannabis Sativa family. The World Health Organization describes it as "generally well tolerated with a good safety profile".

    CBD facts

    How does CBD work?

CBD works by blocking enzymes that are responsible for breaking down the useful molecule anandamide. Anandamide is a human cannabinoid that naturally occurs in your body. It acts as a chemical signal to help your body systems maintain a healthy balance. When CBD is present, your anandamide levels build up and your body can quickly respond to any problems it faces.

    What is CBD e-liquid?

    What is CBD e-liquid

CBD e-liquid, (also called CBD vape juice), is a liquid made up of hemp extract, flavouring and carrier oil. The carrier oil is often a combination of vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG), but some brands use other substances like fractionated MCT oil.

When heated in a vaporiser, the vape juice forms a vapour that can be inhaled to deliver the active ingredient to your bloodstream via your lungs. Flavouring is added to disguise the taste of the hemp and to make it more enjoyable.

Although most e-liquids are similar, they can have some small differences:

    • The ratio of PG to VG can determine how smooth the vapour is on your throat.
    • Cheaper vape juices use CBD isolate, but some contain full-spectrum extract.
    • Most e-liquids range in strength from 1% to 10% CBD.
    • Some e-liquids are dispensed from the bottle by a narrow tip, others use a dropper.

Can I mix CBD oil with vape juice?

You should not mix CBD oil and vape juice; vape juice is designed to be vaped and inhaled safely, whereas CBD oil is made to be swallowed or absorbed under the tongue. If you want to add more CBD to an e-liquid, you could mix it with a stronger CBD e-liquid or a specially designed CBD vape additive.

    Does it contain nicotine?

The CBD e-liquids we sell are different to those used in e-cigarettes and don’t contain nicotine.

    Isolate, full-spectrum or broad-spectrum e-liquid?

    Isolate, full-spectrum or broad-spectrum

E-liquids made with isolate contain CBD that's been purified to contain no other cannabinoids or plant substances. It often comes in the form of powder or crystals that are combined with carrier oils and flavourings.

Full-spectrum e-liquids contain CBD that's been extracted from the plant alongside other cannabinoids and nutrients. The entourage effect theory suggests that keeping these substances together may enhance their effects.

Another option is broad-spectrum; these e-liquids also contain a full range of cannabinoids but with the exception of THC. The THC has been removed and the third-party lab results should show that none has been detected. Some brands also use terms like ‘zero THC’ or ‘THC-free’.

Advantages and disadvantages of vaping CBD

    Advantages

    Disadvantages

    · Available in a range of flavours

    · Produce results faster than other CBD types; vaped CBD can reach your bloodstream in 10 to 20 minutes.

    · They’re more bioavailable than other CBD products; 34-56% will reach your bloodstream.

    · Taking more or fewer puffs is an easy way to make minute adjustments to how much you take.

    · You need to purchase a vaporiser before you can get started.

    · Some people don't like the sensation of inhaling the vapour.

    · When vaped, CBD doesn’t stay in your system as long as when taken sublingually or eaten.

    · Less choice of full and broad-spectrum juices with most containing cheaper isolate.

How do I use CBD e-liquid?

    How to use CBD e-liquid

The process of vaping will vary depending on the equipment you've selected. You'll need an e-liquid vaporiser and a bottle or cartridge of CBD vape juice.

    1. Start by familiarising yourself with the vape. Read the instructions, assemble it and test the controls.
    2. Now, carefully pour the liquid into the tank or attach the cartridge.
    3. Turn your device on; most turn on with 1, 3 or 5 clicks of the power button.
    4. Take one small puff. Some models will automatically vaporise the e-liquid as you inhale, others need you to hold a button down each time you breathe in. Hold it in for a second or two and exhale.
    5. Do this 2-3 times and repeat as needed throughout the day.

We recommend the Jem vape from Innokin. This is a pen-style vape but is wider than most, 16mm, making it easier to refill the tank. If you select the Jem starter kit, it comes with a 1.6-ohm kanthal coil and a 2.0-ohm ceramic coil. This will give you everything you need to vape standard VG/PG e-liquids and those made with fractionated MCT oil, like the full-spectrum CBD Ultra oils we sell.

How much CBD should I vape?

    How much to vape

When you first start vaping CBD, begin slowly and get an idea of how much is right for you. Vaping allows your body to use more of the CBD due to its high bioavailability. So, you will require a lower concentration for vaping than you would if you were going to take it using another method.

When first using a CBD vape juice take a few steady puffs 3 times a day. After 3 days, begin to increase the number of puffs you take but stick to 3 times a day. If you achieve your desired effect, continue to use the same amount.

This table will give you an approximation of how much you're using. We have used the term “puff” to describe inhaling for approximately one second, this is a guide only and will vary depending on the device and settings used:

    e-liquid strength

    1 puff should provide (approx.)

You should get about 1mg of CBD when you take-

    100mg of CBD in 15ml (0.6%)

    0.07mg of CBD

    15 puffs

    250mg in 15ml (1.6%)

    0.17mg

    6 puffs

    300mg in 10ml (3%)

    0.3mg

    3 or 4 puffs

    500mg in 10ml (5%)

    0.5mg

    2 puffs

    1000mg in 10ml (10%)

    1mg CBD

    1 puff

Remember to always check the bottle for safety information and don't exceed any maximum dosage recommendations.

Note: Don’t be tempted to take a larger serving because it wasn’t as expected on day 1. CBD takes time to build up in your system. This is why we recommend taking the same amount each day for the first few days. Also, CBD is biphasic which means taking larger amounts has a different and sometimes the opposite effect.

How long does a bottle last?

How long a bottle of e-liquid lasts depends on how often you vape and how many puffs you take. A 10ml bottle of e-liquid will last between 11 days (30 puffs three times a day) and 33 days (10 puffs three times a day). A 15ml bottle could last from 16 days (30 puffs three times a day) to 50 days (10 puffs three times a day).

    Are there any side effects?

Many people regularly use CBD e-liquids and vape oils without any problems, but some experience side effects. Those that have been noted in scientific studies include dry mouth, gastrointestinal problems, and changes in appetite and weight.

I’m taking medication. Can I still use CBD?

CBD can interact with some commonly prescribed drugs. This could change how medication behaves in your body and might produce unexpected results. Before taking CBD, check with your pharmacist or doctor to ensure it is safe to do so.

    Do CBD e-liquids contain allergens?

In rare cases, cannabis products like CBD can cause allergic reactions, but it's not considered an allergen. Most CBD ape juices won't contain allergens like peanuts, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, eggs and milk, but different manufacturers use different recipes, so it's essential that you check the ingredients.

What are the health benefits of CBD?

You may have seen claims that CBD can improve sleep quality or reduce anxiety and pain. At for the Ageless, you won't find unproven statements. CBD e-liquids and vape oils are not medicines and aren't intended to offer any specific health benefits.

    General precautions

The UK Food Standards Agency recommends that:

    • CBD should not be used by pregnant and breastfeeding women.
    • CBD should not be taken if you're already using any medication.
    • Healthy adults do not take more than 70mg each day.
